The U.S. Department of Justice announced October 30 that Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is one of only four law enforcement agencies selected for its new Model Cities Initiative. Jacksonville will share in nearly $300 million in federal funding aimed at strengthening public safety.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced October 27 that it will conduct high-visibility enforcement details throughout Duval County starting November 3, 2026, to address pedestrian and bicyclist safety. The effort runs through early May 2027.
Jacksonville City Council approved nearly $31.5 million October 15, 2026, for three major projects for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. One project will provide JFRD with a CO2 removal system for firefighter gear cleaning.
